Childhood Memory

I was probably eleven or twelve. We were beside the pool, and my best friend (the metrosexual before metro even existed) was trying to convince me into joining him for a shopping spree at the mall near the hotel. He'd given up after I adamantly refused (ah, how young and naive I was to pass up shopping for a day by the pool) and was discussing the details of the shopping spree with his mom, IE. bargaining on how much he could spend. I crept up behind him slowly and gave him a hard push. He screamed like a little girl but managed to avoid falling into the water by executing some random from godknowswhere kungfu move that is usually seen only on Jackie Chan comedies. His reaction though, was enough to render me helpless as I stood there laughing (more like guffawing).

I should have known better than to have let my guard down. The idiot pushed me into the pool and I didn't even see it coming. It was hilarious though, lol.

I miss the days of old and the things that I used to have. The purity that only the young possess (well ok maybe not so pure considering what I wanted to do) and childlike naivety. Being completely undamaged and unscary and happily taking it for granted because well, you didn't know any better. You didn't know that life can make you dark and twisty and all scary and damaged. What I probably miss the most is Innocence, undefiled and whole.

But then I remember what a wise friend once said. "Innocence has to make way for Wisdom to come in."

Happy Children's Day, everyone.
